Amy Birnbaum, MD

Dr. Amy Birnbaum is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in comprehensive care of the upper extremity, including the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. She provides both surgical and non-surgical treatment for a wide range of conditions, from acute trauma and sports injuries to degenerative and nerve-related disorders.

She earned her medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she graduated at the top of her class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. Dr. Birnbaum completed her orthopedic surgery residency at NYU Langone Health, followed by advanced fellowship training in hand and upper extremity surgery and microsurgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital, both teaching hospitals of Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Birnbaum has received multiple honors throughout her training, including the Ralph and Phyllis Lusskin Resident Teaching Award, the American Association for Hand Surgery Annual Meeting Travel Scholarship, and Distinction in Medical Education. She currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
