UNDERSTANDING YOUR BILL
Why do I owe this?
Your insurance has processed your visit or procedure and assigned a portion of the cost to you (copay, deductible, or coinsurance). We bill your insurance first. This remaining balance is what they have determined you owe.
Didn’t I already pay?
You may have paid an estimate at the time of your visit. Your insurance makes the final determination after the claim is processed.
What is this charge for?
Common orthopedic services include:
• Office visit or specialist consultation
• X-rays or imaging
• Injections or procedures
• Durable medical equipment (brace, splint, etc.)
What is an EOB?
Your insurance provides an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) that shows:
• What they paid
• What you owe (patient responsibility)
Your bill should not exceed the patient responsibility listed on your EOB.
Why am I receiving this bill now?
Insurance processing takes time. You are billed only after your claim is fully processed, which may include reviews, denials, or appeals.
Do I need to contact anyone?
If you have questions about the amount assigned to you, contact your insurance provider using the number on your card or their online portal.
Please contact us only if:
• You did not receive these services
• You have already paid this balance
• Your bill does not match the patient responsibility on your EOB
If you have questions about the amount assigned to you, contact your insurance provider using the number on your card or their online portal.
