Jump Into Recovery: The Benefits of Aquatic Therapy

Aquatic therapy, also known as water therapy or hydrotherapy, is a specialized form of physical therapy conducted in a pool under the supervision of trained professionals. At iOrtho, we take pride in being the community’s exclusive provider of aquatic therapy and endless pool rehabilitation. This unique approach enables patients to perform rehabilitative exercises in a water environment, allowing for movements that might be challenging on land due to pain or weakness.

Our physical therapy facility is just seconds away from our orthopedic practice where rehabilitative exercises take place in an endless pool, providing a controlled aquatic environment. The underwater treadmill offers low-impact alternatives for joint-friendly exercise, while resistance exercises using barbells, wrists, and ankle weights enhance strength and endurance. Patients can engage in a variety of activities, including swimming, kick-boarding against a current, and utilizing air therapy jets for soft tissue massage. Each aquatic therapy session is private, lasting up to 60 minutes, ensuring personalized attention and focused rehabilitation.

Aquatic therapy at iOrtho offers numerous benefits. The increased blood flow facilitated by hydrotherapy helps to oxygenate and deliver nutrients to healing tissues, supporting a faster and healthier recovery process. Enhanced circulation through blood vessels and lymphatic channels helps alleviate swelling, a common concern in post-surgery or injury scenarios. This improved circulation also aids in minimizing scar tissue formation, contributing to a smoother recovery.

For those recovering from muscle and soft tissue damage due to overtraining or competition, hydrotherapy facilitates enhanced recovery.

At iOrtho, we provide a comprehensive and innovative approach to orthopedics, ensuring our patients experience optimal healing and rehabilitation. Contact us to learn more and schedule an appointment, most major insurances are accepted.
