Spondylolysis / Spondylilisthesis

Spondylolysis And Spondylilisthesis

Spondylolysis is a stress fracture or defect in the pars interarticularis, the small bony bridge between the upper and lower facets of a vertebra, most commonly seen in the lumbar spine. If left untreated or aggravated, it may progress to Spondylolisthesis, a condition in which one vertebra slips forward (anterolisthesis) or backward (retrolisthesis) over the vertebra below it.

These conditions are common in children and adolescents, particularly those active in high-impact or extension-heavy sports like football, gymnastics, and weightlifting.

When considering spine surgery, choosing the right practice is crucial for ensuring the best possible outcome. iOrtho is partnered with NYU Langone, which is recognized as one of the top orthopedic and spine surgery centers by U.S. News & World Report.

iOrtho is the only comprehensive musculoskeletal healthcare facility on Staten Island. Our facility provides a wide range of high-quality services, earning hundreds of 5-star Google reviews for its excellence in patient care.
